BREAKING: At last, After Buhari’s Approval, Osinbajo Signs 2017 Budget

(AFRICAN EXAMINER)  - Nigeria’s acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has finally signed the 2017 Appropriation Bill into law.

Nigeria’s Acting President Yemi Osinbajo flanked by the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, Speaker Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara, SSAP to NASS (Senate) Senator Ita Enang and SSAP to NASS (House) Hon Suleiman Kawu, Minister of Budget, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma and Chief of Staff Mallam Abba Kyari during the Signing of 2017 Budget into Law on Monday.

The ceremony followed a statement issued earlier on Monday by the Presidency announcing that the president has directed the Acting President,  Yemi Osinbajo to sign the budget into law, putting to rest controversies bedeviling the signing of the budget.

Osinbajo signed the budget at about 4:41pm on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja in the presence of the principal officers of the National Assembly, presidential aides and other top government officials....Read more stories @ The African Examiner

Governor Ugwuanyi Dethrones Enugu Monarch Over Corruption, Land Scam

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has deposed Igwe Charles Ugwu, as the traditional ruler of Awhum community, in Udi council Area of the state over alleged corruption.

Check by African Examiner revealed that the embattled monarch who has been having prolonged  running battle with his people, was sacked from office as a result of his involvement in alleged illegal land deal and misrepresentation of the state government. England Young Stars Make History, Win first U-20 FIFA World Cup

England’s 51-year wait for a global title ended on Sunday with a pulsating victory in the Under-20 World Cup final defeating Venezuela with a lone goal.

A strike by Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the first half was enough to beat a spirited Venezuela side at the Suwon World Cup Stadium in South Korea.

Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman was another hero for England, as his saved penalty ensured England lifted a World Cup for the first time since Bobby Moore held aloft the 1966 FIFA World trophy.

The Newcastle United player credited his match-winning save on preparations the England team had made for the eventuality of a penalty shoot-out.

Governor Dickson Pays N250 Million Balance of Fees to Lincoln University

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) - The Bayelsa State Government says, it has paid the balance of the fees for its scholarship students at the prestigious Lincoln University in the United States of America.

Disclosing in a statement, the State commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite disclosed that, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson gave the approval for the sum of N250 million, which has been remitted to the Ministry of Education for transfer to the University.

According to him, even though, the students have all graduated, as a responsible Government that is ever alive to its responsibilities, the Governor gave the approval and equally ensured its remittance to the institution.
